Fort Myers Beer Acclaimed Among World’s BEST

The team at Fort Myers Brewing Company earn honors at the 2018 World Beer Cup

While we routinely report on our beautiful weather, beaches and quality of life, we’re happy to announce another attribute of our area, which may even augment our region’s appeal among international buyers that LOVE beer. A type of Fort Myers beer has just achieved acclaim among the very best in the world. To be precise, a chocolate stout known as “Somebody Else’s Dreams” produced by Fort Myers Brewing Company just secured Silver distinction at the 2018 World Beer Cup. This event annually attracts competing brewers from around the world; a composite that includes some of the biggest and best-known of breweries in the world. This brand of Fort Myers beer stood-out as most flavorful among a challenging field of more than 8,000 entrants. An international judging panel comprised by almost 300 distinct beer connoisseurs ultimately presented Fort Myers Brewing Company with the coveted Silver Award. Fort Myers Brewing Company is recognized as our region’s very first micro-brewery, and since their start some five years ago, they’ve produced a variety of compelling concoctions, but this particular flavor of Fort Myers beer appears destined to meet with increased demand by discerning drinkers.

Now interestingly,  our region has long been attractive to visitors from Germany. We have an ever-growing community of residents here who originally hail from Germany. The Naples’ German Fest and Cape Coral Oktoberfest annually draw many who gather to celebrate all things Germanic, and be assured, that includes BEER. Yet, when it comes to those who are most satiated by the suds, Germany IS NOT considered as the world’s largest composite of beer consumers. As a fun fact, on a per capita basis, the top three countries who consume the most beer are (1) the Czech Republic, (2) Seychelles, the Indian Ocean Republic,  and (3) Austria – Germany actually places fourth. Nonetheless, if you’re from one of these countries or simply someone who delights in the drink, this Fort Myers beer represents something else to love about Southwest Florida.
